My Rating: 7.8/10
I have to say I was really impressed by this movie. Just picking apart the different aspects of it makes me feel like I didn't enjoy it as much, but as a whole it was very entertaining. I was reading up a bit on the film before I watched it and the thing that struck me was the varying opinions about Estelle Parson's Oscar-winning performance as Blanche (the sister in law of Clyde). Some said that it was amazing and subtle at times, others called her a whiny woman who did nothing but cry through the movie. I fall somewhere in between. She was whiny, she did scream a lot, but if you were suddenly put into a position where bullets were flying your way day after day, wouldn't you scream too? I can't say it's the best performance I've ever seen, but it works well with the movie.
As far as Bonnie and Clyde themselves, it was a very interesting twist on the typical love story. It had the girl wanting to get away and the boy who was going to sweep her off her feet - almost Cinderella-like in its portrayal of Clyde as Prince Charming and Bonnie as the girl looking for something more. It also fell back on the Titanic idea of "you jump, I jump," - albeit in an unintentional kind of way for the ending. As you can see with me mentioning all of these great love stories, it's easy to tell how I view the movie.
I like this one, it's a different twist on the love story which gets me every time.
